Saturday was moving day at the Turning Stone Classic in Verona, New York. The day began with 64 players and the field was narrowed down to 8 by midnight. There are 4 remaining on the winners side to face off in the winners side semi finals and 4 on the losers side who will play in the 7th/8th place elimination matches.
Earl Strickland is back in the spotlight again as he won his round of sixteen match against Dave Daya 9-3 and then went on to defeat 6 time Turning Stone Champion Johnny Archer with a convincing score line of 9-2. Earl advanced to the semi finals and will play Mika Immonen who defeated Danny Hewitt (Quebec) and Jerry Crowe.
In the other half of the draw Mike Dechaine started out his day with a strong victory against John Morra 9-5 and then went on to defeat tournament favorite Shane Van Boening in a hill hill match. Rodney Morris who had complained of inconsistent play throughout his first few rounds, found his gear on Saturday and defeated Warren Kiamco and Hunter Lombardo to set up a match with Dechaine on Sunday.
